Historical importance of Bhagta Bhai Ka 

Bhagta Bhai Ka is a small town in Bathinda District, Punjab. The holy Sikh Gurus Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji (6th Guru of Sikhs) and Guru Gobind Singh Ji (10th Guru of Sikhs) visits make the town historical. The history of the town is also linked with Bhai Behlo Ji, who was conferred with title of respect by 5th Guru, Shri Guru Arjun dev Ji. As, ‘First and Foremost, Bhai Behlo’ on being a selfless Sikh devotee Sri Harmander Sahib. This town was founded by Bhai Bhagta Ji, the grandson of Bhai Behlo Ji and son of Bhai Nanu Ji.

                        Bhai Behlo, a true Sikh follower hailed from the village Phaphre Bhai Ka, Distt. Mansa. Bhai Nanu Ji was the youngest son of Bhai Behlo Ji. Bhai Nanu Ji, too, like his father, was a true Sikh follower and he also served as ‘Masand’ in Malwa region of Punjab. He was blessed with a son who was named Bhai Bhagta Ji. Bhai Bhagta Ji was a revered, devotional and spiritual Sikh who founded the town Bhagta Bhai Ka. There is a Gurudwara Sahib in the town built in the memory of 6th Guru, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and 10th Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This Gurudwara Sahib  is managed by SGPC, Sri Amritsar Sahib Sahib. It is on the 12.5 Acres of land donated by this Gurudwara Sahib where Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College was founded in 2013.

                        At present, there are 228 students in the college in main under-graduate courses like BA, BCA, BBA, B. Com, B.Sc (Med.), B.Sc (Non-Med.), B.Sc (Agri.), B.Sc (CSM) and post graduate Coures like PGDCA, M.Sc (IT). Among them 80 are girls and 148 are boys. Of them, 57 students belong to SC/BC category. To uplift the educational standard, the students are provided every modern facility along with well qualified and committed staff.
