Introduction
The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary humanitarian organization to protect human life and health based in India. It was founded in 1920. It is the part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. Society’s mission is to provide relief in times of disasters/emergencies and to promote health and cause of vulnerable people and communities.Red Cross Society is formed on Oct. 1, 2016 in Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Bhagta Bhai Ka. The aims and objectives of the society are:
- To contribute to the improvement of health, the prevention of disease and maternity and child care in the community.
- To educate the population on how to prepare for and respond to disasters.
- To promote the participation of children and youth in the work of the Red Cross.
- To recruit, train and develop volunteers/personnel as necessary for undertaking humanitarian responsibilities.
